The method for producing tones or phrases in an improved manner uses a control generator which produces a discrete frequency displaced upwards by a fifth w.r.t. the central frequency of this generator, so that the output for the semitone C, at the semitone divider with the input of the octave divider for semitone G, and the additional semitone connections-displaced in the same manner, are connected with the octave divider. The tone frequencies at the outputs of the semitone dividers correspond to the semitone frequencies at the output of the octave divider (14). A further divider step is necessary for semitones C to F sharp if it is required to produce the same number of tone frequencies. This method is advantageous for constructing musically extended independent registers of register groups.
