In a process for mfg. a positive electrode plate for lead accumulators which can be dry-stored in the charged condition, the process consisting of forming and drying, the electrode plates are singly, in a comple cell, or in a complete accumulator, treated with an alkaline soln. after forming. The alkaline soln. is pref. an aq. soln. of one or more substances which dissociate or hydrolyse in water so they react in an alkaline manner, esp. NaOH, KOH, NH4OH, Na2CO3, K2CO3, (NH4)2CO3, NaHCO3, Na2B4O7, and/or sodium phosphate. The pref. amt. of alkali is 0.1-1 wt.%, esp. 0.5 wt.% max., in aq. soln., in which the plates are immersed for 1-16 hours. Prevents a low voltage during the initial discharge, esp. at low temps.
