PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode plate for a lead storage battery, which is superior in endurance against a heavy load; and a lead storage battery using the positive electrode plate.SOLUTION: In a positive electrode plate for a lead storage battery, of which the active material density after chemical conversion is 4.5 g/cmor more, the amount of pure sulfuric acid added when kneading a positive electrode paste is 2.0-4.5 mass% to a mass of lead powder. The addition amount of red lead is 5.0-25.0 mass% to a total amount of the lead powder and the red lead. A lead storage battery comprises the positive electrode plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
