The key holder ensures that a key which is inserted into a door lock cannot fall inadvertently out of the lock yet the key can be removed and inserted in conventional manner. A flexible tubular sleeve (7) is fitted behind the key shank opening on the key plate to accommodate the key shank (4) pushed into lock. The tubular sleeve is split on one side so that the key projection can be pushed through this sleeve. This split section edges (9) are curved for ensuring that the key projection can be inserted and removed.
