Heater for infusion and transfusion fluids whereby the fluid is heated approximately to body temperature by an exothermic chemical reaction has the total volume of heat from the chemical reaction supplied to the infusion or transfusion fluid either continuously or in stages. Pref., the exothermic chemical reaction ends in an insulated sleeve wrapped around the container for the fluid to be heated or the space for the reaction is integrated into the shape of the infusion fluid container.
