Multi-character yarn texturizing process - uses yarn of at least 20 filaments with overfeed through heating and pneumatic texturizing zones

A process and apparatus are claimed for the texturizing of multi-grade yarns, where at lest one component is a filament yarn. with the yarn of processing being composed of at least 20 threads. The yarn passes through a heat treatment zone to bring it to a softening temperature, followed by rapid cooling and then texturizing by exposure to compressed air of at least 7 atmospheres. The passage of the yarn into the heat and texturizing zones is at a higher speed than the rate at which the texturized yarn is drawn out. The process increases the bulk and density of the texturized yarn reducing the amount of yarn needed for working into a fabric of a given weight.
