S-substd 2-thioadenosines - as coronary vasodilators and blood platelet aggregation inhibitors

Cpds. (I) and their 51-monophosphates- (where R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkyl-alkyl, each of 5 or more C atoms, opt. substd. allyl, opt. substd. benzyl or dialkylaminoalkyl), are prepd. by reacting 2-thioadenosine with R.Halide and opt. phosphorylating the prodt. Thus (I; R = PhCH2) is prepd. by reacting 2-thioadenosine with PhCH2Br in the presence of NaOH.
