摘要
The intakes are located either side of the keel which is hollow. The intakes are connected to a settling tank. The keel and settling tank will be maintained full of water whether the craft is stopped or travelling ahead or astern. The settling tank is vented, and has any number of suction-pipes as required in it to feed the necessary cooling circuits. Each circuit includes a pump, filter and valves. This method of collecting cooling water eliminates the need for a pump before the settling tank which is below the waterline. The reduced drag due to the reduced number of water inlets ensures adequate suction to the various circuits.
