The strip of material (20) from which the tube is made is bent to tubular form. One edge of the strip is formed into a U section (22) with the base of the U, (22a), extending on each side of the strip and the sides of the U, (22b), terminating in inwardly projecting flanges (22c). The opposite edge of the strip (20) has an arrow head section (21) which is pushed in between the flanges (22c) of the U section (22). The hand tool carries two rollers (131) and (132) on parallel axes so spaced that as the tool runs along the seam the arrow head (21) is pushed into the U section (22) as the tube is formed.
