The connecting piece (2) has on one end a screw form similar to that of the metallic tube (1) but with a smaller pitch (by between 1 and 30%). When the tube is screwed on to the connector the turns close up on themselves, so presenting an increased mass for welding/brazing. The other end of the connector may have any desired form suitable for making connections. The free end of the metallic pipe is secured to the connecting piece by welding, brazing, bonding etc.
