Tube reinforced with longitudinally oriented glass fibre - has band with transverse fibres wound helically on the tube

The band is pref. wound onto a layer containing glass fibre reinforcement which is oriented transversely to the tube axis. The band is impregnated with a polymerisable thermosetting resin which is hardened after winding by a drying oven. Because of the helical winding, the fibres are not oriented exactly longitudinally, and this can if desired be compensated for by an increase in the fibre wt. The process is suitable for continuous production of all sizes of tube.
