Mfr. of a mast of reinforced plastics consists of advancing a tubular core longitudinally and simultaneously applying to it, a large number of resin-impregnated reinforcing filaments continuously as it advances. One or more further helically would layers of reinforcing filaments are then applied onto the first, longitudinal layer, and the whole assembly is allowed to harden. The outer face of the assembly may then be covered with a film of airtight material. By comparison with previous systems, where a prefabricated tube is internally reinforced the present arrangement with external reinforcing is much more simple construct and to operate automatically.
