Centrifugal casting of semi-products - with addition of a low melting flux to the liquid metal during pouring

In the centrifugal casting of semi-products in a rotating mould, which is fed with liquid metal via a runner and in which the molten metal with the addns. is held for a period necessary for cooling and solidification a fluxing agent is fed directly to the mould during filling of the mould with molten metal. The fluxing agent, having also a refining action has a m. pt. of 100 - 650 degrees C below the m. pt. of the metal. The agent pref. has the compsn. 75 wt. % cryolite, 5 wt. % fluorspar 20 wt. % NaCl, the mixt. is dried at 120-150 degrees C and crushed to powder before use.
