Vincathione compsns with ascorbic acid and its derivs - e.g. with ascorbic acid/pyridoxine or ascorbic acid/nicotinamide complexes

Pharmaceutical compsns. for oral administration comprise ascetic acid and/or one of its derivs and 14,15-dihydro eburnamenine 14-thione (vincathione), of formula (I) or its pharmaceutical acceptable salt. The ascorbic acid may be present as the free acid, a salt or a complex, pref. an equimolar complex of ascorbic acid and nicotinamide or ascorbic acid and pyridoxine, either anhydrous or monohydrated, or vincathione ascorbate. Mixtures may also be used in which the ratio vincatione: ascorbic acid by wt. are 4-1 : 1-200, pref. 2-1:1-5. Ascorbic acid improves the digestive absorption of vincathione and hence the pharmaceutical activity.
