Concrete reinforced with refractory fibres comprises 5-50 (5-35) % ceramic fibres, (esp. aluminosilicates), 10-30 (15)% of a mixt. of Portland and aluminous cements in ratio 4-2:1 balance mineral fibres comprising alkaline earth aluminosilicates, such as rock wool, The reinforced concrete is used for the mfr. of fire-barrier coatings and partitions for building construction. Avoids using asbestos, and ceramic fibres of the same order of cost as asbestos, such as Al2o3, yet can still be used at up to 1200 degrees C unlike prior art rock wool fibre concretes where the rock wool disintegrated at about 600-700 degrees C.
