Flexible seal with stiff web for insertion in concrete roads - to facilitate installation or removal

Expansion joint profile for use between adjacent segments of concrete roads, where the profile combines a generally straight web with a relatively flexible seal profile along the top. The seal is more easily installed or removed than totally rigid or totally flexible seals. The top and the web are made of the same matl., but the web is stiffened for at least part of its depth, pref. by an undulating cord with opt. ties of cotton, wire or monofilament across the waveform. The web may feature longitudinal ribs. The seal profile should be of a synthetic rubber; the web may be of semi-rigid PVC. The profile may be inlaid into wet concrete or fitted into a groove or channel in or between precast slabs. Pref. the seal profile is hollow, is evacuated prior to installation, and opt. is loaded with rigid bar(s) of e.g. PVC to assist insertion of the profile into a groove.
