A main shaft (2) carries a number of spokes each carrying a spindle parallel to the shaft. Each spoke carries a rotating mass (1), revolving at very high speed around its spindle. The masses also revolve around axes in line with the radii of the assembly. This last revolution takes place while any mass (1) travels over the arc (6). Also this last revolution is only over 180 deg. so that the direction of rotation of the mass (1) is effectively reversed over the quadrant (6). The resultant force is in the direction (7). By varying the reference to the arc (6) the direction of the resultant (7) may be modified.
