The parking system has each vehicle fitted with a display with three different coloured sections, e.g. fitted on the roof of the vehicle. A red signal (2) indicates an infringement, a blue signal (3) indicates that the vehicle driver is aware that he is in a limited parking zone or restricted speed area and a yellow signal (4) indicates that the vehicle driver is aware that he is in the blue zone or in a different speed zone. The display may be repeated within the vehicle, with a timer for allowing the parking time to be ascertained and a counter allows the excess parking time to be ascertained, a further counter allowing the number and duration of the speed infringements to be ascertained.
