1419866 Hydrocarbon complexes EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 31 May 1973 [2 June 1972] 26023/73 Heading C5E In a process for the separation and recovery of complexible ligands by contacting a feedstream with an aromatic sorbent solution containing cuprous halide-Lewis acid salts the corrosion of ferrous metals is inhibited by dissolving a compound of arsenic, antimony or bismuth in the sorbent solution. The solution suitably contains 0À1-5 wt. per cent, based on the cuprous salt, of a chloride, fluoride, bromide or triphenyl compound of arsenic antimony or bismuth. The cuprous salt can be CuAlCl 4 , CuBF 4 , CuBCl 4 , CuPF 6 , or CuAlBr 4 . The solution can contain benzene or isopropylbiphenyl as the solvent. The complexible ligands can be olefins, acetylenes or aromatics. The contacting can be performed at 80-350‹ F. and 0À1-30 atm. abs.
