The identification card comprises a support substrate (1) which has at least one side provided with a photographic coating. Spaced elements are imprinted on the latter coating, with further identification data provided on the substrate in the spaces between these elements, which are formed so as to prevent the identification data being altered. The identification data may be reproduced photographically on the card and/or written by hand and/or printed, e.g. to provide a photograph (7) of the recipient together with his signature and personal data (5). The imprinted elements may be in the form of the fine lines (4) with wider spacings between them.
