1513189 Stands J GIES 21 Oct 1976 [22 Oct 1975] 43743/76 Headings A4H and A4U [Also in Division A6] A stand, for a tree or sunshade, comprises a cylindrical socket 1 having a threaded sidewall 3 and a base-plate bottom 20, a plate 7 resting on the base-plate and having pairs of wall members 8, 9 and 10 thereupon, thrust blocks 4, 5 and 6 disposed for sliding movement in channels formed between the pairs of wall members, and an adjusting member 14 have a threaded cylinder 15 screwing into the socket 1 and an internal cone 17, so that when the adjusting member is screwed into the socket the core pushes the thrust blocks radially inwardly to grip a tree or sunshade placed centrally in the socket. A depression 21 may be provided in the base-plate 20 to receive water.
