The box is particularly intended for thin cigars, etc. and is formed by folding from two cardboard blanks and having a cap (4) which can be removed over a cardboard box insert (5). It is formed from a one-piece blank which is folded and glued to form the outer box (3) and cap (4), and a second blank folded to form an open insert (5). The arrangement is such that the insert holds the cap when the insert is partly removed from the outer box in which it is slidingly contained. The insert may have a lateral fold (6) dividing it into a lower (5a) and an upper portion (5b), the sides being provided with cutouts in line with this fold.
