A soil working device for tree planting which can be connected to a towing vehicle, has an arm (2) with a toothed rotary cutter (1) at its end for digging a hole, with an attachment section (3) rigidly connected to the towing vehicle. The support arm (2) can be attached in at least one of the two pivot planes and is operated by double acting hydraulic cylinders (12, 13) which may be adjusted from the cab of the towing vehicle. This arm (2) can also swing about a horizontal pivot pin (10). The attachment section (3) incorporates a vertical pivot pin (11).
