A process for producing a hot-pressed silicon nitride - and / or silicon oxynitride, - the form body

Moulding articles of hot-presses Si3N4 and/or Si2ON2 contg. a binder-phase of glass compsn converted to a glass ceramic by subsequent heat-treatment are pref. prepd by mixing Si3N4 with the glass compsn as pressing auxiliary hot-pressing, e.g. at 1750 degrees C, followed by heat-treatment. Strength and hardness of mouldings contg. glass ceramic phase are improved. Hot pressing assistants are oxided e.g. 0.1-35 (0.5-10)% SiO2 Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2, ZnO, K2O Na2O Mg MgO, CaO and/or Li2O.
