Free falling grab for underwater sampling - has lowering weight released after closing of jaws on bottom

The free falling grab is used for collecting samples from the sea bottom. On top of the grab is arranged a buoyancy arrangement and a weight is discarded from the grab to ensure upwards thrust due to buoyancy. These weights are held reliably on the grab before it meets the sea bottom and the weights are discarded when the grab jaws close. The weights(30) rest on a support on the grab(10) and the weights have open slots (31, 32) for holding pins(34) when the grab jaws are open. These pins are situated in the upper arms(15, 16) of the grab jaws. These holding pins are withdrawn from the weight slots when the grab jaws close.
