Cylinder-piston unit, containing a cylinder housing and a piston movable inside it. At least two spring-loaded components (3) are fitted in the cylinder in such a way that they brake the piston (2) in the areas of top and lower dead centre, and impart an additional movement impulse to the piston in its movement in the return direction. The spring-loaded components (3) can either be fitted on the piston (2) or can be incorporated on the cylinder wall (1). They comprise stiff rings (4) with springs (5), and can be formed from two U-shaped inter-engaging rings, between which the springs are fitted.
