The toilet layout installed in a railway passenger coach incorporates a water supply tank, tank for faecal matter and a foot-pedal-released water intake into a pedestal with a cover. Dosage of the volume of water conducted to the WC pedestal (5) is achieved by means of a time control mechanism (6, 7), released by the foot pedal (10) and limiting the volume of flow. The waste tank (12) is mounted beneath the wagon body (1), and connected to the pedestal (5) by a down-pipe (11), and it is fitted with an automatic door locking device (22), which is connected to a liquid indicator (21) and operative when the waste tank is full. Water supply is easily measured and regulated, and waste tank overflow is effectively prevented.
