Body temp. probe disposable cover - is for mammals and ensures reproducible thermal time constant and short measurement times

A disposable probe cover for temp. sensors used in measurement of mammal body temp. is constructed to produce a uniform, reproducible thermal time constant for the cover and sensor combined. The design also enables shorter measurement times and smaller thermal absorption whilst retaining a relatively large contact area with the patient's body, thus ensuring minimal discomfort. Positive locking and unlocking of the cover w.r.t. the sensor are provided. The cover (12) consists of a heat conducting contact section (16) and a non-conducting tubular section (14) sealed to it, and fits tightly over the prove (20), to form a thermal chamber between them at the probe free end (24), inside which the temp. sensitive element is mounted. The chamber contains fluid of low thermal conductivity.
