A method of measuring temp. is esp. applicable to measurement in the manifolds of internal combustion engines with turbocharging. It enables rapid measurement of temp. using conventional temp. sensors with long time constants. Two measurement values (V1,V2) separated by a small time interval (delta.t) are measured using the sensor. The internal (delta.t) is much smaller than the sensor time constant (T). The measurement temp. (v) is derived from a relationship involving the difference between the measured values (V1,V2) and the ratio between the time constant (T) and the time interval (delta.t). The relationship V equals (V2-V1).T/delta.t. is evaluated by a digital computer which raises the quotient to a power of two. Pressure in the manifold can be similarly measured using pressure sensors and a similar relationship evaluated by computer.
