In the mfr. of insulation for high-voltage cables, comprising (non-) crosslinked (co)polyolefins contg. voltage-stabilising additives, up to 10, pref. 0.1-5 parts of Pb oxides and/or basic Pb cpds., per 100 parts of polymer, are admixed as voltage stabilising additives. The claimed insulating compsn. is suitable for use in medium and high voltage service. There is no less of dielectric strength by action of humidity. Suitable voltage-stabilisers are Pb3O4, Pb cyanamide, basic Pb sulphate: basic Pb phthalate and finely divided Pb-oxide. A suitable insulating formulation comprises 100 pts. polyethylene 1-4 pts. peroxide, 0.1-0.5 pts. antioxidants, 1-5 pts. Pb3O4.
