Stabilised crosslinked articles, esp. ethylene (co)polymer cable insulation compsns., are produced by adding a soln. of liq. peroxide (I), and 2,2'-thio-bis-(4-methyl- 6-tert.butyl-phenol) (II), as a solid heat-stabiliser melting below 80 deg.C, to the polymer or polymer mixt. during the final shaping process. The use of the lower-melting (II) obviates crystal-formation at room temp. Unmixing and heat-stabiliser migration are prevented. For use in cable insulation and electrical conductor layers, the soln. can further contain a lio. voltage stabiliser, pref. a phenanthrene-based oil or a liq. keto- and/or hydroxyl cpd. (I) is esp. a di-tert.butyl peroxide or a mixt. thereof with a tert. butyl-cumyl peroxide and opt. dicumyl peroxide.
