Handling device for storage system - has workpiece storage in form of palette shelves with horizontal slide-in slat for palettes

The processing system consists of a machine tool, a handling gear for charging the machine tool with workpieces, and a workpiece storage device. The workpiece storage device is palette receiving shelves (3) with slide-in slats (6) for the palettes (5). The vertical distance between two adjacent slats (6) is equal to the height of the smallest possible workpiece (4, 8). For the fixing and positioning of the workpieces (4, 8) the palette surface has a contact adhesive coating. The signal emitters necessary for the control of the handling gear (2) are stuck on the palettes. The palette receiving shelve installation consists of one empty, and one workpiece-filled shelf. The handling gear takes one workpiece from the top and returns it after machining to the previous place. When one palette is filled with machined workpieces it is transferred into the empty shelf.
