Disposable food vessel consists of a dish and lid made of polystyrene foam film material covered with a thin hard film. The dish has the internal shape o a plate, and contains several plastic inserts for foodstuffs which fill the inserts and conform to their shape. The inserts may be made of cold- and heat-resistant plastic, pref. high-density polyethylene or polypropylene. On the inner surface of the dish and the outer surfaces of the inserts may be interlocking projections and recesses, respectively, or projections against which about the sloping edges of two adjacent inserts. The round dish and round lid may have horizontal projecting peripheral edges which rest on top of each other when the vessel is closed.
