The procedure for determining zones in a strata has the reduction in tectonic forces influenced either naturally or by artificial obstructions. The size and the position of the still-remaining tectonic forces is determined by a construction or by measurements. In the strata being examined, boreholes are driven for insertion of thermocouples or resistance thermometers. The measured temperature or the energy values are recorded by a point writer with a very small paper advancing speed. The zones and border lines resulting from these values are entered on a card covering man-made obstructions and alterations, line of extractions and rest pillars. The boreholes are lined with pipes and connected to a vacuum. The extracted gas is measured and recorded. The corresponding border lines and zones are again entered on the card.
