The method involves carrying out measurements, during which the tracking forces are determined at measuring positions (P1 to P4) by a sensor system for multiple different locations of a vehicle (1). The vehicle has contact with a contact surface (2) at the measuring positions. The tracking forces of the individual measurements and the locations of the vehicle are saved, for which the measurement of the tracking forces is taken place in a data storage. The actual center of gravity of the vehicle is calculated depending on the saved tracking forces by a calculating unit. An independent claim is included for a device for determining an actual center of gravity of a vehicle.
