The milk pan lid is in the form of a round dish-like container (1) which is larger in diameter than the pan (2) itself and is placed on the pan with its open side up. Inside the container there is a part which is shaped like a flattened dome (4) and which has holes (5) over its entire surface with the rounded part being at the top. This dome shaped part is smaller in diameter than the saucepan and the entire lid unit fits securely yet detachably into the top of the pan by means of a conical fastening ring (3) which is located round the bottom part of the dish container (1). Two or more concentric conical rings can be fitted to the lid so that it can be used for pans of various diameters. When the milk boils and rises up it passes through the holes (5) into the dish container where it cools down and then returns to the pan.
