The support includes a hollow shaft supporting the bobbin by means of a carrier provided with a pawl. The carrier which is removable, is provided upstream of the yarn guiding eyelet integral with the pawl with deflector for deflection of the yarn unwound from the bobbin. Pref. the deflector is formed by the peripheral edge of the axially downwardly extending skirt of the carrier. The pawl is provided with extension which engages an axial slot in the shaft and with a detent which engages a radial recess in the axially outer face of the upper flange of the bobbin. Lace yarn is unwound from the bobbin adjacent its upper flange in a trouble free manner.
