Reach mast truck with folding lift frame - has detector for obstacle in gap between truck body and lift frame

The reach mast truck comprises a lift frame (10) which can be retracted to the truck body (2) and into the chassis of the truck and inclined. Between the lift frame and truck body is a monitor (28) which bridges the gap at least in the last approach zone of the lift frame, and which detects an obstacle in the gap. A switch is actuated in accordance with the obstacle. Pref. the monitor transmits radiation e.g. inductive radiation or light, through the gap, and interruption of the radiation can be detected by a receiver. The monitor may consist of a guard plate (28) mounted resiliently on the lift frame or truck body and which is displaced, actuating the switch, on retraction of the lift frame over the last zone.
