The installation is fitted to a packaging machine for the attachment of a tear-open strip to a packaging bag cut out which is cut off in each case corresponding to the machine operating cycle from a track of weldable packaging foil, fitted with the tear open band, formed into a bag and filled with a certain weight of grainy or powdery goods and then fitted with a folding closure containing a welding seam. The device includes means to draw the tear open band transversely across the track and to fix it on it. These include a sensing device (31) determining the level (38) of the filled material depending on the specific volume of the material being filled in relation to the base of the bag (23) and a control device (34) adjusting the height of bag movement track (37).
