A process for preparing a stabilized - and sliding composition for polyvinyl chloride on the basis of lead or any other toxic metal

A process for prepg. lead- or other toxic metal based stabilisers for PVC comprises first reacting litharge or other suitable oxide with a fatty acid in a lubricating medium without plasticiser, the whole reaction being effected at 70 degrees C in presence of catalyst (pref. 1%) with stirring, then cooling with stirring and incorporation of other suitable components to form heterogeneous lumps, which are finally ground to the required particle size and degree of homogenisation. The prod. is non dusting its prepn. or in use. The process is effected at low temp. (cf. 130-160 degrees C in prior art) and in a relatively short time due to presence of the catalyst.
