Anionic detergents contg. iminodisulphate builder - with sodium nitrilo-triacetate and/or sodium citrate

Detergent compsns. contain (a) an anionic surfactant; (b) an iminodisulphate of formula (MSO3)2NM (where M is Na, K and/or NH4); and (c) Na nitrilotriacetate (NaNTA) and/or Na citrate. The compsns. pref. contain 25-65 wt. % of (a), 25-65 wt. % of (b) and 5-35 wt. % of (c). Component (b) is pref. (KSO3)2NK. Component (c) is pref. present in an amt. of 10-50 wt. % based on (b) + (c). Chelating component (c) improves the builder action of component (b) and allows lower concns. of the latter to be used. Unlike detergents contg. phosphate builders, the compsns. do not cause eutrophication when discharged in waste waters.
