The safety control unit is for a stamping press and is incorporated in The press's control unit. It ensures that the press is not activated should an error occur either in the control unit itself or in the safety unit of if received operational information deviates from that expected. The information is fed to two identical signal processing units (20,21) so designed that they can receive the signal in a predetermined way in a certain time sequence. An output signal is produced if the sequence and time scale is correct and two signals are fed to two operating units (6,7) both of which must be activated if the press is to function. If only one unit is activated or the internal signal processing is out of sequence then the press cannot be operated.
