Stabilisation of landscapes susceptible to erosion or sealing of earth surfaces is provided by covering the surface with a mesh or net made of rot-proof material and then spraying the net with an emulsion of a resin. Method is for stabilising loose soil to establish vegetation or to seal bund banks surrounding hydrocarbon storage vessels. Compared with conventional bitumastic dressings the lighter coloured resins absorb less solar heat, do not directly support nor are consumed by vegetation. They are permeable to water vapour, e.g. rising from the soil. Dendritic penetration of soil by the emulsion anchors the net firmly. The net provides lateral cohesion. Pref. an aq. emulsion of polyester or epoxy resin is used, specification bisphenol/epichlorohydrin incorporating an amine or a polyamide amine hardener, or a polyester of mixed, partially esterified phthalic and maleic acids incorporating benzoyl peroxide and dimethylaniline.
