Two wires (1) are stretched along the tops of two sets of vine stakes. A plastic strip (2) coated with metal on its lower surfaces bears snap hooks (3), attached to its sides at regular intervals, which clip on to the wires, the strip being reinforced at its lateral edges (4). The metal coating reflects back to the soil the infra-red radiation coming from the soil, thus preventing heat loss from the air space above the vines and the formation of frost.
