Shattering target based on sulphur, with inert filler and plasticiser - pref styrene, for clay pigeon and sheet targets

Shattering target, consisting of a compsn. based on S, comprises 50-90% S, 9-40% inert filler and 1-10% plasticiser, pref. styrene, and has an initial monoclinic crystal structure, which changes to a rhombic crystal structure on keeping. The compsn. opt. also contains 0.5-5% maleic acid. The target has the required shattering characteristics but is stronger than those based on S and the conventional additives, making it suitable for a wide range of competitions where strength is necessary.
