Metallic wire is cooled after being drawn through the die. An anti corrosive agent is added to the cooling fluid, which after evapn. of the fluid, forms on the wire a protective coating. A circulating pump pumps the mixture of cooling fluid and anticorrosive agent into the cooling means through an exchanger which enable one, due to cold water circulation regulated by a thermostatic valve, to fix the temperature of the fluid entering the cooler to the desired valve.
