The device for reproducing the identity tag of an X- ray, contained within a cassette, comprises a housing into which the cassette is inserted and with a movable shutter for allowing insertion of the part of the tag receiving the identification data, through an aperture. The movement of the shutter is controlled in response to the insertion of the X-ray cassette. Further means receive the identification tag, which is then illuminated for a given time period, with the image of the tag sent via an optical system to the X-ray cassette aperture, for printing the corresponding part of the X-ray. The shutter is closed upon removal of the X-ray cassette from the device.
