An illuminated electrical appliance such as a switch or press button, esp. with a large-surface operating member, has a light-source, arranged inside a socket or a casing. The light beam is directed, by means of a transparent body, towards an outlet in a cover and/or the operating member of the appliance. This outlet is an elongated band-shaped, field (12,22), pref. arranged at the margins of the appliances. The transparent body is a plate (6,20) above the light-source (5,19) but beneath the cover or the operating member, and is provided, at least near the light-outlet with reflecting and refractive surfaces (11) having the shape of saw teeth across the thickness of the plate, or with a pyramid-shaped grid (14) upon the surface of the plate.
