Aircraft artificial horizon indicator - has inertial platform monitored vertical gyroscope for accurate pitch and roll attitude indication

An aircraft artificial horizon or attitude indicator is used as the principal instrument and as a standby instrument. It is connected to the inertial platform of the aircraft to obtain high accuracy. The indicator, has a vertical gyroscope with integral mechanical erection. It is used in conjunction with an inertial platform. It has two electrical transmitters (1, 2) which are used to compare in two comparators (5, 6) the indicator pitch and roll signals with the inertial platform pitch and roll signals (3, 4). Error signals (Sr, St) from the comparators (5, 6) are used to drive two servomechanisms (7, 8). One servomechanism (7) is coupled to horizon marking (9) of the indicator. The other servomechanism (8) is coupled to the roll scale (10) of the indicator.
