Code label reading system for TV cameras - uses two different widths of band on background for bits with intermediate width reference band

The code on the labels consists of bands on a background. The bands have two differing widths corresponding respectively to a binary '0' or '1'. The label is scanned by a TV camera. The reading is transcribed into binary data and put into an output register. The label has a key code parallel to the coded data. The key code and the coded data each have a reference band whose width is between the '0' and '1' band widths. for each coding discrimination between a band representing '0' and a band representing '1' is made by comparison with the reference band. Analysis of the data code is only transmitted to the output register after key code recognition with an identification key.
